It's not every day you get to see Bryan Batt rolling up the sidewalks on Magazine Street. But there was the "Mad Man" star with his 500 candle watt smile standing just around the corner from where I live.
Last Saturday was Magazine Street's Retail Relief celebration held on the six-mile stretch where some of the city's most interesting and fashionable boutiques, bars and restaurants are located. Batt and his partner Tom Cianfichi own a boutique there called Hazelnut.
"One of my favorite things is telling people I'm from New Orleans and talking about what's going on here, and I think Magazine Street offers some of the best boutique shopping in the country," he said, stream-of-consciously.
