In most American towns, people go to the dinner table on Thanksgiving, but in New Orleans, a great many go to the racetrack. Instead of eating sweet potatoes, they down bloody marys and wear fancy or fanciful hats.I thought the occasion would be upscale and so wore a silk suit.
But I forgot this is New Orleans and any event is an opportunity to costume.
The races were fun and the horses beautiful as were the hats.
